Modern science does not, and cannot, ask itself what life is. Instead it operates with bogus probability calculations from non-life to life as if in some sense life as a mode of being (or mode of essencing in time) were somehow causally effected 'in the long run'.
i assume that you know the Fermi Paradox = "where is everybody?"...
